STUDENT LEADERSHIP
ETSS Wicklow supports all educational activities that develop student leadership.
The goal is provide opportunities to develop communication skills, organisational skills, decision-making skills, time management skills, risk assessment skills and strategic thinking skills.
Students will have many opportunities to work in teams - at class level, at year level and at school level. In teams, students will be encouraged to reflect on the strengths and weaknesses of each team member in order to work out how the strengths can be made work best for the team.
Students will have the power to influence decisions about the learning environment. Our philosophy is that if students are learning the skills of planning, engaging in dialogue and decision-making to improve their school at present, then they will gain the motivation and the wisdom to be strong leaders and pro-active citizens in their communities in the future.
Students will have leadership opportunities in projects, in sports and in co-curricular activities such as debating. Confidence in their decision-making skills will be promoted and encouraged, as will evaluating and learning from the results.
